COMFORT, COMFORT, COMFORT MY PEOPLE (ISAIAH 40: 1-10)
Comfort, comfort, comfort
my people.
Speak tenderly, tenderly, tenderly:
"Your burden's done". (Alts: "The battle's done/The war is done.")
Comfort, comfort, comfort
my people.
Speak tenderly, tenderly, tenderly:
"Your burden's done." (Alts: "The battle's won/The war is won."1. A voice calls out from the desert:
"Prepare the way of the Lord.
Make straight in the wilderness
a highway for God!"2. The voice says "Cry to the people."
I ask: "Lord, what shall I cry?"
"That men are like with-'ring grass,
but My Word abides."3. So bring good tidings to Zion,
and have no fear with the Lord!
Behold God is with us, and
God brings His reward!
